Milk Gone Bad

Recently I visited my dear sweet mother in law. We have the best of times together and next to my own parents and husband, she is my number one encourager.

When I was looking in the frig to make something to eat, I noticed a quart of milk that I have never seen before. No idea how long it has been there but by the looks of it I know it had been there for a long long while. It looked like some mysterious foreign plastic object from outer space tucked away between the other containers in the door of the refrigerator. I am sure the smell was just as bad but I was not going to open it to find out. This wasn’t just some sour milk that was a couple of days past the expiration date, oh no, this plastic container was a pretty hideous sight. This quart of milk had gotten soooo bad, there was a visibly clear line between the chucky, off white…even yellow curds that settled on the bottom and the clear murky liquid that had risen to the top.

The big question I had for myself is…how in the world did I miss it? I am pretty diligent about  throwing out old food especially when I go grocery shopping and want to restock with fresh food. So how is it that I missed this?

Let’s face it, sometime throughout this life, we are going to miss something.

So what have you missed from your life, something so hideous and poisonous with toxins that you never knew was there? What things are lurking in the metaphorical refrigerator of your soul?

Could it be bitterness? Long term anger, frustration and unforgiveness at a wrong done to you?

Could it be pride? Never submitting your heart to the great “I AM” who is God, but instead depending solely upon yourself?

Perhaps it is a lack of love, injustice, prejudice, withholding grace and mercy to others.

God never intended us to be poisonous. Whatever things are lurking in your metaphorical refrigerator of your soul, take to God and pray for His cleansing. He will throw out
the items that make us poisonous and replace those with fresh fruitful items that will prosper even to His glory.

Open the manual of the Bible and follow the direction for daily life. It will guide you on the proper ways to clean out the refrigerator of your soul by confessing sins and allow God to clean you and help you remain clean.  Seek Him and you will find a cleanness for your soul.
